Caorle and the Lagoon

This tour starts from Ca' Corniani, where bikes will be handed out and a briefing given to participants.

We'll begin with a guided visit through the historic village, where locals used to gather for social occasions.

Stepping inside feels like travelling back in time: everything has remained as it once was — the villa, the old wine cellar where wine used to be made, the memorial field now dedicated to those who fell in the Great War, and the "procurative" field, once an administrative and recreational hub.

We'll then follow the estate's cycle path through the reclaimed farmland, with its open countryside where the eye gets lost among the vast cultivated fields and waterways.

We'll visit the Pumping Station built in 1880, central to the great land reclamation project that transformed the Ca' Corniani area from the waters of the Caorle lagoon into fertile farmland.

We'll get back on our bikes and, along a cycle path through the coastal countryside, visit a farm renowned for rice production and discover the cultivation techniques for this crop (each participant will receive a 1 kg gift of rice).

After this stop, we'll head to the seaside for lunch at a charming local restaurant.
We'll then visit the centre of Caorle, a picturesque fishing village on the Adriatic coast and a well-known seaside resort.

Finally, we'll cycle towards the Falconera area, visiting — with the help of a guided explanation — one of the most beautiful and evocative natural areas of the Veneto, home for thousands of years to a wide variety of flora and fauna. Here, local fishermen lived in perfect harmony with nature for decades, in traditional buildings called "casoni".

We'll return to Ca' Corniani after a day spent in landscape shaped by man yet respectful of nature.
